Which closed testing service should you use? The short answer

If you need 12 testers opted in for 14 days to unlock production access on a new personal Google Play account, you have four kinds of options: Fiverr gigs, dedicated tester services (Testers Community, PrimeTestLab, 12 App Tester), free tester-swap communities, and automated runs on real devices like DUIRE, the service that publishes this blog.

The biggest difference isn't price — it's who opens your app (real people or automated devices) and what happens if Google rejects you. Below is what each provider states on its own pages as of October 27, 2026. Where a page doesn't say something, we wrote “Not stated on their page” instead of guessing. DUIRE is listed with the same fields.

Prices are for one app and a basic plan, checked on October 27, 2026. The details — and the conditions behind each refund promise — are in the comparison below.

What to check before you pay for closed testing

  1. Real people or automated runs. Both are used to meet the requirement. If you want feedback on your app, you need real people.
  2. Whether the app is opened every day. Testers who install the app and never open it fill the headcount but leave you exposed to a “testers were not engaged” rejection.
  3. What happens if Google rejects you. A rejection can mean running the 14 days again. Read the refund or retest conditions — deadlines, required proof, and exclusions — not only the headline guarantee.
  4. What records you get. The production access questionnaire asks what testers did and what you changed. You need facts from your actual test to answer it.

Which option fits your app?

If you want real feedback on your app, choose a service with human testers and compare how they handle dropouts and rejections. Testers are usually spread across many countries, so feedback may be less useful if your app targets one language or market.

If your main goal is meeting the requirement without gaps, automated runs on real devices are cheaper and don't forget to open the app. Compare how often the app is opened, what happens if you're rejected, and what records you get to back up your answers.

If you'd rather not pay, tester-swap communities can fill 12 slots for free, but the 14 days can stretch when partners uninstall early. See where tester swaps fall apart and how to find 12 testers.

Should a service fill in the production access questionnaire for you?

Several services offer sample or pre-filled answers, and some offer to answer the questions for you. Google asks the account owner to describe their own closed test, and answers that don't match what actually happened are a reason for rejection. Use any template only as a starting point, and rewrite it from the records of your own test using our question-by-question examples.

DUIRE doesn't write your questionnaire answers and isn't a panel of human testers. It gives you a daily record of real devices opening your app — screenshots, install and version history, and a PDF report — so you can write the answers yourself from facts.

Frequently asked questions

Is it against Google Play's policies to use a closed testing service?
Google doesn't specify how you have to find your 12 testers. But the production access questionnaire asks how you recruited testers, whether they used your app's features, and what feedback you got, so choose an approach you can describe truthfully — and answer from what actually happened during your test.
How much does a "12 testers for 14 days" service cost?
On October 27, 2026, dedicated services started at roughly $14–$20 per app for a basic plan, with larger or QA-focused plans costing more. Among the first 10 Fiverr results, gigs started anywhere from US$5 to US$100. Free tester-swap apps cost time instead of money.
Real human testers or automated runs on real devices — which is better?
Both are used to meet the 12-tester, 14-day requirement. Services with real people can give you feedback on your app, which helps with the questionnaire. Automated services open the app reliably every day but usually don't produce usage feedback. If you go automated and want feedback, add a few friends or colleagues as testers too.
Can a service guarantee production access approval?
No service decides whether Google approves you — Google does. Some services offer a refund or a free retest if you're rejected, and the conditions differ a lot. Read the refund terms, not just the headline.
When was this comparison checked?
We checked each provider's own pages on October 27, 2026. Prices and policies change often, so check the page again before you pay.
